Wilderness First Aid Course for the IKC

This Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course, through SOLO Wilderness and Emergency Medicine Schools, is sponsored by the IKC and is taught by local Bloomington, Indiana cavers and outdoors people with Wilderness First Responder certifications. It is two full days (16 hours) of classroom instruction with hands on learning scenarios that range from crisis response, patient assessment, physical trauma, environmental issues, bleeding control, and how to handle medical emergencies.

Registration is open for current IKC members (if you have not renewed your 2023 dues, please do so before registering), and opens to anyone June 5.

ILPA-member trust staff/board members/volunteers may also register before June 5, using the "IKC member WFA" tickets- just answer "no" when it prompts if you are a member of the IKC.

Registering here is the first part of your registration, and holds your place. Once we review your registration details here, we will send an email with details on completing the registration process.

Please see details of class below. All registrants will receive more detailed information closer to the actual date of the class.

• Saturday 8:30am - 5pm (includes 30 min lunch break)
• Saturday 5:30 - 7:30pm (optional add on CPR class with 15 students maximum)
• Sunday 8am - 4:30pm (includes 30 min lunch break)
• Course book included.
• Brown bag your meals/drinks, no time to drive for food in rural area.
• Class will take place indoors and outdoors so come prepared for both

• Members ages 15-17 may register with accompanying registered parent/guardian only.
• Primitive camping will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at our nearby Sullivan Cave Preserve for registered participants.

If registration is full, make sure that you add yourself to the waiting list, as there is a chance the waiting list will open up.
